How We Test Drones

We buy or borrow every drone we review, then fly it across the conditions it was actually built for. A travel mini drone gets tested on real trips, a cinema platform goes up on a real production, and a budget beginner drone goes to an actual new pilot. We do not accept review units on condition that we publish, and we do not adjust our conclusions to protect affiliate revenue. When a drone is good, we say so. When it is not, we say that too.

Every review below is the result of at least one full day of flying, and most represent weeks or months of real use. We evaluate flight performance in calm air and in wind, image quality in both good light and challenging conditions, build quality and durability, software polish, and long-term reliability. Our reviewers are FAA Part 107 certified pilots, so when we talk about airspace rules, registration thresholds, and commercial operation, we are telling you the same thing the FAA would.

Use the filter below to narrow reviews by category. Each review includes a detailed verdict, full pros and cons, and specific guidance on who should and should not buy the drone. If you are new to drones, we recommend starting with our best drones for beginners roundup before diving into individual reviews.
